Whether it is visiting and shopping for shoes, or biking along the river banks, Marikina City does not fall short of activities and restaurants good for a day trip. Marikina City is greatly known to be the Shoe Capital of the Philippines, thus, the Marikina Shoe Festival. Also take note of the Marikina River Festival wherein Marikeños celebrate the river’s significance.
Ways to get there:
1) Make your way to Cubao Aurora Boulevard.
2) Ride a jeep with either of these signs: SSS Village or Montalban then ask the driver to drop you off at Marikina Bayan.
Alternate option: From Pasig or Pateros, ride a jeepney bound for Marikina.
Reminders:
1) Bring extra clothes and a drinking bottle as it may get hot as you tour the city.
2) Preferably wear rubber shoes as you prepare to walk around. Marikina River Banks is best experienced walking.
3) Be open to try foods that are unusual to you and learn the history and story of the places you will be visiting.
4) Be mindful of your belongings, as with any place, really!
